Clearance means the 1-1.5mm gap between stationary tub and roatating disc. In the use of conventional centrifugal disc finishing machine, abrasive media 3 mm or smaller in size can not be applieed, because those media are lodged in the gap. Clearance-0 mechanism has adopted high wear-resistant ceramic ring on rotating disc and stationary tub is mounted on it, which has achieved the clearance almost zero while disc ratates (Patent No. 4130922).
Any kind of finishing condition can be applied because Clearance-0 mechanism allows small size of abrasive media and workpieces, which can not be applied for conventional model of centrifugal disc finishing machine.
Water is being supplied to the area of rotation between stationary tub and rotating disc while rotating disc is running, in order to restrain the wear of sliding contact surface between tub and disc.
